R.E.A.C.H. Parents Guild – Year in Review
OUR YEAR IN REVIEW 20/21
The R.E.A.C.H. Parents Guild is has been an exciting new addition to the school this year.
With the relaunch of R.E.A.C.H. and the uniqueness of the pandemic year, the focus has been on community and connections.
In October we invited a group of like-minded parents to join us in small focus groups to discuss ideas to promote a sense of connection to the school and to each other. In November we held our first Parents Guild Committee Meeting and since then have been meeting one evening each month. Using the R.E.A.C.H. Vision and Mission Statement to guide us in developing plans and introducing our first projects into the school, we haven’t looked back!
In January we sent out a survey that provided invaluable feedback to help us identify which types of events and initiatives would be of most interest to parents. This guided our decision to create the School-wide Family Challenge for the month of April and the Teacher Appreciation Event in May. Both of these initiatives were well received and we have been heartened by the positive feedback. The Photo Challenge, Share Your Spring Joy! provided us all with heart-warming images during a challenging time. We also had tremendous engagement with the Teacher Appreciation project.
Generous donations enabled us not only to fund our Greatest Gratitude project but also to set up a fund that will provide for future Teacher Appreciation events. The Photo Challenge video for families and Greatest Gratitude video for our teachers were produced in the hopes that despite separation and challenging times we can all continue to connect with each other in some small and meaningful way.
Our Calendar of Events for the 21/22 School year, posted soon on the Community Engagement and Parent Guild page, reflects our efforts over the last weeks, including, recruiting new members for the Parents Guild Committee. The opportunities for parents and families to come together with shared purpose and for meaningful connections are wide-ranging. We hope to re-connect and see you all soon.
